Claire's Big Ideas: #3 - A Morris Avenue Jitney
Welcome to the third installment of Claire’s Big Ideas. Here’s one approach to coping with traffic.
We can all agree: street traffic in Summit is painful, particularly along Morris Avenue, with its cascade of unsynchronized stoplights stretching from River Road almost to Route 24. People are driving to work, driving to the train station or downtown, driving their children to and from school.
We have resources we can leverage. Specifically, we have Bristol Myers Squibb at one end of Morris Avenue and are about to have Kenvue at the other. Both these Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies have an interest in moving their own employees to and from the train and downtown.
Let’s leverage that–let’s work with these corporations (and the money they would spend on their private jitneys to create a transportation service up and down Morris Avenue that works for all of us.
